L' "estetizzazione della violenza", oggi esercizio stilistico consolidato nel campo artistico, televisivo e cinematografico, attraverso la “messa in scena” di ogni sorta di violenza nelle forme più invasive e cogenti , ha determinato i codici di una nuova forma d'arte , che attenta ai fini meramente commerciali, elude il gravissimo esito di una pervasiva e devastante colonizzazione dell'immaginario soprattutto nei soggetti più deboli.

Auspichiamo anni sabbatici dedicati ad una conversione radicale all'estetizzazione della pace: ai temi della relazione solidale, della coesistenza pacifica delle donne e degli uomini di buona volontà in armonia con il pianeta che ci ospita.
Chiediamo alle istituzioni competenti di attuare regolamentazioni adeguate e di sospendere i patrocini ovunque ci si prodighi per la deificazione della violenza, pubblica e privata, in ogni sua forma.

BASTA A LA ESTETIZACIÓN DE LA VIOLENCIA

La "estetización de la violencia", es hoy un ejercicio estilístico consolidado en el campo artístico, televisivo y cinematográfico, a través de una "puesta en escena" de cada tipo de violencia en las formas más invasivas y vinculantes, ha determinado los códigos de una nueva forma de arte, que persigue fines meramente comerciales, evade el grave resultado de una penetrante y devastante colonización del imaginario sobretodo en los sujetos más débiles.

Esperamos hacer años sabáticos dedicados a una conversión radical de la estetización de la paz: a los temas de las relaciones solidarias, la convivencia pacífica de las mujeres y de los hombres de buena voluntad en armonía con el planeta que nos alberga.

Solicitamos a las instituciones pertinentes suspender el patrocinio de la deificación de la violencia pública y privada en todas sus formas, en cualquier lugar que sea necesario.

A estetização da violência, exercício estilístico consolidado no campo artístico, televisivo e cinematografico através da exibição de todo tipo de violência nas formas mais invasivas e coercitivas, determinou os códigos de uma nova forma de arte, que visando fins meramente comerciais, elude o gravíssimo êxito de uma penetrante e devastante colonização do imaginario, sobretudo nos sujeitos mais fracos.

Auspiciamos uma seara de anos sabaticos dedicados a uma conversão radical à estetização da paz: aos temas das relações solidarias, da coexistência pacífica das mulheres e dos homens de boa vontade, em harmonia com o planeta que nos hospita.

STOP THE AESTHETICISATION OF VIOLENCE

Today the ‘aestheticisation of violence’has become a stylistic pratice consolidated in the arts, television and cinema through the flaunting of all forms of invasive violence which has set out the terms of a new form of art. Driven by purely commerical motives it results in the extremely serious outcome of a pervasive and devastating colonisation of the imaginary especially of the most vulnerable.

We hope for a harvest of sabbatical years dedicated to the radical conversion to an aestheticisation of peace: on the themes of solidarity and the peaceful coexistence of men and women of good will in harmony with the planet which hosts us.

We ask the responsible institutions to suspend sponsorship wherever it supports the deification of violence, both public and private, in all its forms.

Alex and I hardly knew each other yet it was as if I had always known him because Alex, a citizen of the world, was in reality, a citizen of a different world to the one we all know.

Alex Langer belongs to that category of humanity which not everyone knows about but which we should all be aware of: that category of men and women who are alone. Alone, because they are incapable of adapting to a world which does not allow children to grow up with dignity and forces them to invest their inner resources elsewhere.

The question we need to ask ourselves is why Alex has died.

I believe Alex has died because he no longer knew what to do with a world which has become so degraded, so stricken with madness and so beyond every form of survival.

Let us therefore try to understand what he wanted to communicate to us with his death at Pian dei Giullari, leaving his things in order beside him, bringing a rope with him and choosing such a beautiful tree as the apricot tree, tall and majestic, on a July afternoon, perhaps at three, just as the father he so adored had also died, because, perhaps, he wanted to communicate a message to us.

Today, on the 3rd of July, 1996, three years after that afternoon, I want to commemorate him in this way; forcing myself to understand the injustice of his death, to continue with what is right. And I believe it is right to dedicate these thoughts to the children who do not have a future, because we need to understand that there can be no future for those who are harmed during their age of innocence.

There is, I think, only the struggle to live.

I believe there must be a moment in history when as many of us as possible need to stop before the inevitable. But what is inevitable?

I believe the suicidal course of contemporary history, the evident shared will to run towards one's death is inevitable.

Which death? Death removed and exorcised of the non-living.

And it is with extraordinary awareness that every day has its dose, every hour its taste and its pleasure.

Once the main reason; the gift, is taken away from life, only science remains with its increasingly sophisticated remedies. And thus within the jungle of poisons and antidotes there is no longer space for normality, and normality turns into deviance.

And yet in every historical era of Man's existence, it has always been said that the source of our vital energy is the search for happiness. Is there a single man on earth who wishes to be unhappy?

How do we get away from the absurd existentialist belief that the search for happiness is a remedy? By escaping, with rules, with rhetoric?

Let us think back to the age of innocence, that season of life when vital energy, as pure as every sunrise, asks only to be revealed.

The gaze is limpid and direct, harmonious, the heart is alight with sincerity, and everything is a rushing gush of energy towards the self expression of a mysterious joy of living.

And then what happens?

Science arrives, above all the science of good living, the most persuasive.

It takes you by the hand and it does not tell you who you are, who you want to be, but tells you: “I know what you need, do not rebel, listen to me, follow me.” And using a variety of methods and many persuasive and enticing traps to socialize the innocent towards behavior which is increasingly more and more distant and estranged from the precious yearning, which gives expression to the freedom of emotions, the development of identity, self-knowledge and a synthesis of vital energy.

But science is benign and shrewd and says: “Look how things are going! Here there is a loss of interest Here there is malaise! My God this person is really unwell, in need of a remedy. I have a cure!”

I believe it is time to stop. To stop simply as a pure act of intelligence. Let us stop before there is mourning, a catastrophe, a war which places us face to face with our own stupidity.

Is there hope?

Perhaps. I believe in the artist. The artist who does not sell his work but shares it as a gift.

In the name of knowledge for which he reveals the source of a well being: self communication and collective action. However, we know that knowledge is organized as science, and that creativity has been deviated into artifice.

The gift; this synthesis which enables people to be part of the holism which rises from one’s inner consciousness, from the free and harmonious realm of one's vocation which creates creative knowledge, has been broken everywhere by the shrewdness of those who want to take advantage and gain from it.

The gift.

Beyond the gift lies everything else.

It has become difficult for anyone to enthuse about the uniqueness of human life when it has been sold to the heartless and faceless homogenization…of the remedies.

And the innocent?

The innocent who do not know they are innocent, rebel and escape.

They escape from themselves towards louder and louder noises to shelter from the honey of our ideas on 'well-being', they escape within themselves buying the dose which, for those few hours, will enable them to find the wellbeing which our violence has stolen from them.

And thus the circle closes and we, the honored society, pretend they are alive, instead they are dying.

For this reason I believe it is a sacrosanct duty to reopen the game of art, of creativity, of communication, of human relationships, of dialogue with others, of collective action, of trust, of self expression.

Hope has visited the graves and asks us to have solidarity towards a meaning which is truer to our existence, one which risks choosing love over the certainty of death and suffering.

Museo della memoria e della Legalità

Venerdì 3 settembre, all’assessorato regionale dei Beni culturali e dell’Identità, siciliana, ci sarà la prima riunione del comitato scientifico chiamato a promuovere la nascita del Museo della memoria e della Legalità.

Esso ha il compito di collaborare alle attività che si renderanno necessarie durante la ricognizione storica, la definizione e la fondazione del Museo stesso.

Ne fanno parte, oltre all’assessore Gaetano Armao: Alessandro Maria Calì, Gesualdo Campo, Salvatore Costantino, padre Nino Fasulo, Francesco Forgione, Francesco La Licata, Manlio Mele, Giovanni Puglisi, Claudio Riolo, Umberto Santino, Ernesto Savona, Vittorio Sgarbi, Pier Luigi Vigna.

“Abbiamo visto in questi anni”, spiega Armao”, quanto sia importante nella lotta alla mafia conservare e tener viva la memoria dei fatti e delle persone che ne hanno segnato le tappe più decisive.
Per questo motivo è urgente assumere la decisione di istituire un Museo che raccolga i segni e le testimonianze più significative di questa lotta, così che attraverso queste si possa indicare, soprattutto ai più giovani, il percorso, talvolta intriso anche di sangue, che è stato fatto e gli obiettivi che bisogna ancora raggiungere”.

“Ai positivi risultati conseguiti più di recente”, aggiunge l’assessore, “grazie all’impegno di tutte le istituzioni, occorre continuare a affiancare l’impegno della società civile che deve esprimersi principalmente sul terreno culturale e della formazione delle coscienze. Per questo la Regione vuole che per la prima volta nasca in Sicilia un Museo, che non a caso non deve essere chiamarsi della mafia, ma “della memoria e della Legalità“.
La partecipazione al Comitato è a titolo gratuito fino all’espletamento del mandato.
